What is an isolation suit?
The gowns are intended for use by frontline caregivers and health care workers to protect them from virus-containing respiratory droplets, liquid penetrations and solids, and to prevent the spread of microorganisms to vulnerable residents.
Generally, there are two types of gowns used for medical purposes - surgical gowns and non-surgical gowns.
Operating gown
Surgical gowns are worn by medical staff during surgery to protect themselves and their patients from the spread of microorganisms, body fluids and particles.
Non-surgical clothing
Non-surgical gowns, or gowns, are Category I devices that are exempt from premarket review and are designed to protect healthcare workers from the spread of pathogens and infectious body fluids in low-risk or minimum-risk patient isolation situations. The use of non-surgical gowns is not recommended for surgical procedures, invasive procedures, or when there is a medium-high risk of infection.
